Care Enough to Act

There are many, many opportunities to use your time and resources for a whole variety of causes.  Many of these are good organizations with legitimate needs performing worthwhile endeavors.  Since there are so many opportunities it is important that we recognize which needs will be addressed.  I suggest to you that it comes down to being involved in those issues which matter the most to us.  Those options which appeal to our hearts are the ones that will cause us to care enough to act.  We cannot do everything and so we must make choices.  Those decisions will be guided by what we consider to be important.  Those issues that we consider to be the most important are the ones that we will care the most about.

What do we care about?  We are all different and we will find that not everyone thinks alike in these matters.  However there should be something that we care about enough to become involved, to act.  I hope that we will not be selfish, self absorbed individuals who will not see anything beyond our own lives.  I hope that we can see that we can all contribute to the betterment of society,  that we will care about something beyond ourselves.

So what do you care about?

It can be so easy to just keep going about our own business and be wrapped up in our own crazy schedule that we forget that life is so much more. There are people who could use an encouraging word or a smile.
Meals on wheels, big brother/big sister, volunteering at the local school, taking time to visit those who can’t get out and about so easily, I have done all of these at one time or another. It does take time and that can be a precious comodity.

There is so much that can be done that we need to make choices about where we place our time and energy.
